Algarve - Parque de Floresta
Situated at the western end of the Algarve, Parque de Floresta Golf is an undulating course with many of the holes enjoying spectacular views, but perhaps not as breathtaking as climbing some of them.
Parque de Floresta Golf is the most westerly golf course in the Algarve and is set amongst the mountains overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. This was probably one of the most notorious courses in the Algarve with sloping fairways and large ravines, buggy tracks that even a mountain goat would have been weary of. Recently it has had a user frendly makeover, but is still a very hilly course.
You will be able to score well at Parque de Floresta, but only after you have got to know it. Teeing off from the first, keep your drive right or you may end up in a large revine which this fairway tends to lean towards. Your second, if you wish to reach the green in regulation, has to go over this ravine and is also the shortest way to the green. At the 5th, a 112 meter par 3, take a little time to take in the spectacular veiws from this high tee.
A buggy is recommended at Parque de Floresta Golf. The facilities on the complex are exceptional with superb swimming pools and a health centre, plus tennis and bowls.
